The Association of Cable Communicators has donated $10,000 to the Emma L. Bowen Foundation, for minorities interested in the multimedia industry.

This marks the tenth year in a row that the ACC has donated the proceeds from its Welcome Reception & Silent Auction to the foundation. The ACC began making its contributions in 1999, and has raised $112,985 for the Emma L. Bowen Foundation over the years.

The money will be used to help endorse the foundation’s 5th annual Summer Conference 2008, which will be held in New York.

“The Bowen Foundation does an incredible job of nurturing, mentoring, molding and encouraging high school and college student to explore professional opportunities in the media.,” said Steve Jones, executive director, ACC in a statement. “That, in turn, helps all of our industry employers by broadening their workforce diversity, producing new ideas, offering new viewpoints, and ultimately adding innovation to their companies’ products and services.

The Emma L. Bowen Foundation was established in 1989, and linked up with corporate partners to provide a five-year work/study program for minority student interested in pursing a career in media. There are approximately 260 students currently in the program and 260 have graduated and have pursued careers in media organizations.
